About Us
emendo.org is based in Sydney, Australia. Our aim is to make the job market more transparent to job seekers, and to allow employers the widest possible exposure to potential candidates
Historically, a prospective employer would advertise a role in the local press,
wait for a response and start the interviewing process in order to find the
right candidate. Then came a push towards recruitment agencies who would, for a
fee, advertise a job, and produce a short list of candidates. Undoubtedly the
swing between insourcing and outsourcing various functions within HR will go on
ad infinitum, what the increased use of the internet in advertising jobs should
mean, is that no matter who is processing the responses to advertisments, a far
wider group of potential candidates should be reached.
To us, this isn't just an opportunity to reduce the cost of advertising in
recruitment, its greatest impact will come from the improved quality and fit of
applicants, by increasing the number of applicants, and being more specific
about the job requirements (this is especially true of small organisations who
until now haven't been able to afford to advertise in the press or online).
Our aims are:
1) Increasing the percentage of jobs that are advertised
2) Encourage employers to publish jobs online (and in a recognised format)
3) To act as a repository for information on job publishing
4) To encourage interchange of job information amongst
employers
employees
search engines
newspapers
mobile phone networks
broadcast networks (TV, radio, phone in)
5) To act as a publisher for smaller businesses unable to publish online, or with no in house technical resource.
